Emails from a teacher in Istanbul

Our school is located on a hill which has a magnificent view of the Bosphorus. It is a small school with just over 300 students. I teach 3rd, 6th and 8th grades and in total I have 60 sudents.

I've received the information you sent me. Thanks for it. I hope it will interest my students. Our school has a website but it's in Turkish. However, there's a photo section, if you click you can see some photos of our past summer camps. And I'm going to send you some recent photos of my 6th graders who will work with your students.

I have 13 sixth grade students but I mentioned about you and your project to my colleagues in the department and some of them might want to be included in the project but for now I can't give you the exact numbers.

Thanks for adding us on your website which is really great, we appreciate that. And yes, we have net access at school, you can tell us the activities which you want us to do. You sent the Passover materials (about the same time of the year as Easter) but unfortunately we don't celebrate Easter. Beginning with class emails would be great. With Love from Istanbul,

I have the pictures you sent me, thanks and I'm going to send a couple soon. ... The main problem is we have only one computer lab in the school and its schedule is really heavy. Moreover we don't have CALL classes as a part of the curriculum, just individual efforts like mine. Because the computer lab. is too busy, it's really a complicated process to match an English class with a class when the computer lab. is empty. And most of the students don't have net access at their homes.

Istanbul is very beautiful. ... My favourite singers and artists are Natalia Oreiro, Shakira, Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias and Elijah Wood. My favourite football team is Trabzonspor. My favourite footballers are David Beckham and Ilhan Mansiz. My favourite food is pizza and my favourite drink is ayran (a yoghurt drink). I can swim, play basketball, voleyball and football. I like to listen rock and pop music.

I like Turkish music. I'm a Fener Bahçe fan. My favorite place is Topkapi Palace (in Old Istanbul) and Dolmabahçe Palace. I play tennis. My favourite food is spaghetti, pizza, strawberry parfait, cake and bagel.

I live in Istanbul with my parents. I'm twelve years old. I like to listen to rock music. My favorite bands are Linkin Park and Metallica. I'm a Real Madrid fan. My favorite sport is Ice Hockey. I'm a Chicago fan.

My hobbies are playing chess, computer games, basketball and swimming. My favorite food is hot kebab.
