naša crkva - church in KorculaWe are a school from Korcula, Croatia. The building of our school is 800 m2 and we have outside space with a playground. In the building there are four large living rooms for children from 3 to 7 years and two large rooms for children from 1 to 3 yrs. We have a kitchen, dining room, wash-room, sport hall, puppet theater and covered terrace with a beautiful view of Korcula medieval walls. All our corridors are large and without any steps so we use them for various activities. There are about 240 children in the school.

What is important about our school?

We are a children's culture center using our cultural and natural heritage. We help children to develop a positive image of themselves, their identity and their belonging to this community.

We play moreska too (a traditional sword dance and drama) and we have been on English, Czech and French television. We work in project healthy city where we are involved in sport activities.

We have been awarded a lot of prizes: Prize of Korcula Town (in year 2000); 1st place for our painting Family; 1st prize for project I love Croatia; 2000/01 - Special Prize from Ministry of Education of Croatia for quality and creativity in work.

Korcula is an island in Croatia ... "rich in art and culture, as well as beautiful nature such as numerous tiny and secluded beaches and bays, small and uninhabited islands and breathtaking views. The main town on the island itself is Korcula a typical medieval walled Dalmatian city, with its round defensive towers and cluster of red-roofed houses. (Edita)

Easter in Korcula

At Easter children decorate hard boiled eggs and there is a very attractive religious procession around Korcula Old Town on Good Friday. (Edita)
